Monarch Migration

Plum Island in the fall sees a number of migrators come its way. Today, there were dozens of Monarch butterflies. I thought it was pretty cool. I could not catch any with their wings open, though (except when they were flying, of course). Still beautiful...

I hope my Monarchs are safe on their journey. They are all gone from our area now.

Once my mom and sister and I had our dad drop us off at the far end of the beach and he drove back while we walked the ENTIRE length of it. By the last couple miles we were major sick of it and he was sick with worry. Beautiful though. We didn't see any butterflies. Is that a recent phenomenon?

plum island is one of my favorite places. I still have all my bird watching journals from my trips there. We see lots of Monarchs on their way to Mexico...its always exciting to see them.

We have been there, but not to see the butterfly migration. That must have been so neat.

I don't think the Monarchs are recent, but I didn't know about them until I read up on them after I got back home. They were a beautiful sight, for sure =)
